Only at Cedar Pond Farms

Highland Cow Weddings

Say “I do” with the fluffy cows. We're the East Tennessee wedding venue where Scottish Highland cattle walk right into your wedding story — and your photos.

Highland-cow wedding photos are everywhere on Instagram and Pinterest — but almost nowhere can you actually book one. Our herd lives HERE, on the same farm as the Grand White Barn and the wedding pavilion, 25 minutes from Knoxville in the foothills of the Smokies. No rented animals, no traveling handlers — just our own gentle, camera-loving cows and the guides who know them by name.

Cocktail Hour with the Herd

While you're signing the license, your guests can meet the cows — hand-feeding, brushing, and falling in love. It's the cocktail hour people talk about for years.

How It Works

Three Steps to a Fluffy-Cow Wedding

  1. Pick your day. Weddings and elopements run year-round — the cows wear their famous winter coats from fall through spring.
  2. Add the herd. Tell us you want the cow photo session or guest encounters and we build it into your day — a farm guide handles the cows so you only handle the moment.
  3. Get THE photo. Our guides know each cow's best side (truly). Closed-toe shoes for the pasture, booties provided, and yes — dresses survive; ask to see the proof.

Good to know: the cows are gentle, guide-handled, and never left alone with guests. Sessions flex around weather, and the herd always gets a say.

Fluffy FAQs

Highland Cow Wedding Questions

Can we really have a Highland cow in our wedding photos?

Yes — really. Our own Scottish Highland herd lives on the wedding property, and a farm guide brings the calmest cows to a photo-friendly spot on your day. No rentals, no traveling handlers.

Is it safe — and what about the dress?

The cows are gentle, guide-handled the whole time, and never left alone with guests. Dresses do great: we provide slip-on booties for the pasture walk and our guides pick the tidy spots.

How much does the cow photo session cost?

It's an add-on to any wedding, elopement, or quinceañera at the farm — tell us you want the herd when you inquire and we'll include current pricing with your date.

When are the cows at their fluffiest?

Late fall through early spring, when they wear their famous teddy-bear winter coats — which is also when wedding dates are easiest to get. Summer cows still steal the show.

What happens if it rains?

Sessions flex around the weather on your day — your coordinator and the guide simply find the window, and the covered spaces keep the rest of your celebration dry.
