Tying the Knot on a Family Farm: Pros and Cons
If you’re dreaming of a rustic, intimate wedding, having your special day on a family farm might just be the perfect setting. From outdoor ceremonies surrounded by natural beauty to barn receptions with plenty of space for dancing, the possibilities are truly endless! But before you book that venue, let’s explore some of the pros and cons of having a wedding on a family farm.
Pros of Having Your Wedding at a Family Farm
There’s something so romantic about an outdoor ceremony surrounded by lush fields and rolling hills. Add in some mason jars filled with wildflowers as centerpieces and string lights hanging from the ceiling, and you have yourself a perfectly rustic celebration. Plus, it’s much easier to customize your wedding decorations when renting out an entire farm compared to smaller indoor venues where decorating options may be limited.
Weddings can get expensive quickly. But if you opt for an all-inclusive venue like a family farm, you can save money since most farms include tables and chairs in their rental fees. Plus, since most farms are located in rural areas away from large cities, they tend to charge less than other venues located in more populated areas.
When hosting your wedding at a family farm, you can create an experience tailored to fit your vision—from handpicked menus to personalized touches like monogrammed napkins or custom cocktails! Plus, there’s no need for additional transportation for your guests because everyone can stay right on-site!
Cons of Having Your Wedding at a Family Farm
Restrictions & Regulations:
Although each state has different regulations regarding weddings held at farms (and other outdoor locations), it’s important to keep in mind that many family farms have certain restrictions that must be followed when planning your event. These rules often include noise restrictions after certain hours as well as limitations on alcohol consumption within certain areas of the property. So make sure to do your research ahead of time so there are no surprises down the line!
As we all know too well, Mother Nature isn’t always cooperative—especially when it comes to outdoor events! Unfortunately, if your wedding is taking place at a family farm during the warmer months (or even during spring or fall!), windy weather or unexpected showers could put a damper on things—literally! So make sure that you have back-up plans in place (like tents or umbrellas) just in case.
A wedding at a family farm is definitely worth considering for those looking for an intimate yet unique celebration filled with natural beauty and cozy charm! While there are certainly some potential drawbacks—such as weather concerns or restrictions—with proper planning and preparation these issues can easily be addressed before they become major problems. So don’t let these potential pitfalls deter you from tying the knot on one of nature’s finest canvases! Fill out the inquiry form online at www.cedarpondfarms.com/contact to get more information.

Valentine’s Day Farm Wedding
Annually, on February 14, we are surrounded by those we love, fresh flowers, hearts, chocolates, and notes of adoration. Why not include all of it in a wedding to celebrate? Since Valentine’s Day is all about showing your love, we can’t think of a more romantic way to celebrate than by getting married. Concerned that it would sound corny rather than romantic? Rethink that! We’re here to demonstrate that a Valentine’s Day wedding can be classy.
For inspiration for your big day, continue reading for 10 Valentine’s Day wedding ideas.
1. Wear A Pink Wedding Dress
Think of ditching the customary white wedding dress in favor of a pink dress; if you want more of a romantic style add lace, flower embellishments, or other romantic details.
2. Heart Shaped Accessories
A heart-shaped piece of jewelry is essential for a Valentine’s Day event. Wear earrings or a charm bracelet with heart-shaped diamonds if you feel like wearing something less flashy. Another metallic or bright accessory would be great for the rehearsal dinner or reception.
3. Valentine’s Day Invitations
The ideal method to create the right atmosphere for any party is with a well-designed invitation. Add a romantic touch to your Valentine’s Day theme with things like a crimson border, elegant calligraphy, or a unique heart-shaped image, or elegant calligraphy.
4. Flower Girl Dresses/Accessories
In order to make sure that your little ones can dress like their favorite princess along with you on your big day, consider dressing them in a style that feels fitting for such a big occasion. Have the flower girls wear dresses with lace, soft pink hues, or flower embellishments.
5. Romantic Decorations
Design the perfect Valentine’s Day wedding by incorporating hearts, shades of pink and red, lace, and flowers. Use these Valentine’s Day classics in your wedding decor and throughout the day to add unique touches. Consider having a floral-decorated truck bed that can serve as both a picture booth for the reception and a statement entry piece for the ceremony.
6. Bridal Party Wears Red
Dressing your girls in red or pink bridesmaid gowns can help them embrace the motif as well. Even dresses with heart prints are available. Allowing them to accessorize independently will prevent you from seeming overly coordinated.
7. Guest Book
The guest book is a great keepsake that will remind you of your wedding day for years to come. You can give this idea a romantic twist by asking guests to sign wooden hearts and storing them in a keepsake box.
8. Valentine’s Day Wedding Cake
An excellent bakery will have plenty of romantic cake options for you, both simple and extravagant. Make your wedding cake more festive by cutting tiny red hearts out of fondant. Add a cake topper of your choice to take it to the next level.
9. Heart Designed Desserts
Valentine’s Day may be included into your dessert bar by including delicious, love-themed delicacies all around your setup. Serve pink chocolate pretzels or heart-shaped, sparkly pink cookies. Additionally, they make for a wonderful favor that your visitors may take home as the evening draws to a close.
10. Decorate with Roses
A classic atmosphere and a profusion of flowers really scream romance. Roses are available in any color that matches your palette or you can stick with red for a classic look. Try having an all rose bouquet for that extra pop of romance.

The red room is a great area for brides to get ready if the party is on the smaller side. Inside the room, there is a makeup table with a large mirror, and a chair to help make getting ready easier. A curtained closed-off changing area is located off in the corner, providing some privacy for those who may need to change. It is equipped with a sink, refrigerator, and hand-washing sink. The room is also wifi capable and has a flat-screen for some enjoyment. Air conditioning and heat are provided, of course! This room is also used as an area for little kids to hang out and relax.

Spring is in the Air
Spring is in the air. As blossoms on the trees come alive, so does love. This is the time to find a perfect outside spring wedding venue, and to plan the theme for a wedding that will create memories for years to come. With the warming weather there is a desire to capture the feel of the spring air by planning a wedding at an outside venue. The advantages of an outside wedding venue are countless but a few are more desirable than the others.

Advantages of an Outdoor Wedding Venue
One of the best advantages of having an outside wedding, has to be the memories. And, so much different than having a wedding in a church where stiff formality often takes away from the enjoyment of the day. An outdoor wedding venue provides your guests with more space to move around. And, this will add to the enjoyment your guests can have meeting new friends and also new family.
Also, with an outdoor wedding event there is more opportunity for the bride to share and express her creativity. Planning an event that is in an outdoor setting gives the planners more options and theme ideas to make the day the most memorable.
Often, hosting an outdoor event is less expensive because the whole venue is all in one place.
The most important advantage to an outdoor venue is that the guest are not just enjoying a matrimonial event. But, what they are really taking part in is a matrimonial experience. One that will be thought of with fond and loving memories.
Indoor wedding venues may hold several different receptions each day. Thus, you may be restricted to just a couple of hours for your wedding reception. You might not even be able to find a reception venue that isn’t already booked on your desired wedding date. However, a large outdoor venue has room for multiple receptions, meaning you can spend as much time there as you need to. Your wedding day will feel less stressed and more special.
Location is Key
In having an outdoor wedding the main thing to look for is desired and pleasant location. You want your guests to be able to take it the atmosphere and enjoy the surroundings. And, having your guests feel like they are not just in attendance, but are actually part of the celebration. Events where guests can take part by dressing consistent with a chosen theme can create feeling of inclusion. Having an outdoor wedding venue that is near mountains, lakes or similar natural settings is a plus.
